Julie Smith“I think I'm... quite ready for another adventure!” ~Bilbo Baggins Julie is the Office and IT Manager. She joined our staff in 2025. From a very young age, Julie has been excited by opportunities to inspire others to love, study and nurture the natural world, a passion sparked by a childhood visit to Gnome Countryside. Julie earned a bachelor’s degree from West Chester University in Environmental Geoscience and worked for 6 years as a geoscientist. She later went back to West Chester to earn a teaching certificate in Secondary Earth and Space Education to continue to follow her dream of working with young people and the natural world. Following a period of substitute teaching, Julie had her first child, transforming her life, and consciously dedicated her time to her young people’s first years. For the past 9 years, Julie has worked in the business office of a local guardianship company. She very much looks forward to combining her business office experience with her love for being part of a community of inspiration. Julie has been involved in many community initiatives in the Media area through Transition Town Greater Media. These include running the Green Wagon Project and the Media Tree Tenders team. Julie loves to be immersed in nature every way she can. She loves to garden with native plants and observe all the visitors they attract. She also loves animals of all kinds – especially dogs, and loves to camp, hike, read, and spend time with her family. Julie and her spouse, Tom, have two young people - Ben and Annie, two dogs - Albus and Heidi, and two cats – Nellie and Willy. |
