Interviewed May 2020
What year did you start at OC?
I started at OC in 2013.
What was your earliest OC memory
My earliest memory at OC was making our journals in Thursday Group Tutorial II in the beginning of the year. I remember taking fabric and wrapping it around pieces of cardboard. Then we sewed paper in with wax covered string. We used these journals to draw things that we would find in the woods. This was for our naturalist program and was one of my favorite programs while at OC.
What is your favorite OC memory
I have had many great memories during my time at OC. My favorite memory would have to be our trip to Boston with Shaping Your Life. I really enjoyed getting to spend three days away from home with all my friends and Mike. At first, I was not going to go on the trip but Mike went out of his way to encourage me to go on the trip and then to make sure I had a good time. I am grateful to Mike for pushing me to go on that trip. We had a great time and I was sad when the trip was over.
What distinguishes OC from other learning environments.
OC is very different from other leaning environments in that we get to choose our learning pathway right when we begin. We don't have to wait until college to have a say in our educational experience.
What will you miss most about OC
I already miss so much about OC! I will miss the community and the support from both my peers and facilitators, the uniqueness of the programs, and the campus. I will really miss my friends too but hoping we can all get together soon. OC has been my second home for 7 years it's hard not to miss all of it.
