Open Connections

PROSPECTIVE FAMILIES: Open Connections continues to be open, virtually. We recognize that springtime is often when prospective families tour the OC campus and come for an in-person interview. While our physical campus is closed for the time being, we ARE continuing to conduct interviews via Zoom or FaceTime. Alexandra Barainyak


Alexandra is a Facilitator in the Open Program on Mondays, Group Tutorial II on Tuesdays, the Choice Programs on Wednesdays and the Open Program on Thursdays. She facilitates Theater II on Thursdays and the Extended Day program on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Alexandra has been on Staff at OC in some capacity at various times during her college years and joined us full time in 2015.


In May, 2012, Alexandra graduated from Goucher College with a B.A. in Music with a double concentration in Vocal Performance and Music History. In 2014 she graduated from West Chester University with a teaching certificate in music education.  In 2016 she earned her Masters degree in Music (concentration in music education) from Boston University.


Alexandra was homeschooled from second grade through high school and is an OC alumna.  Most of her time at OC was spent in OC Co-founder Susan Shilcock's Tutorial.  As a teen, she interned in the Open Program.


Alexandra’s interests, along with working with young people, include: creative writing, community theater, reading, being involved in her church community, dance, singing and directing three handbell choirs.
